How much money have you spent on Star Wars merchandise? Probably more than you should have…

One would think that being a fan of a franchise only implies watching the movies over and over again and overanalyzing every detail, and while that is a very important part of being a fan, it's not the only thing involved. Nope, being a fan of something, anything, means a whole lot more.

With Star Wars in particular, you have such a big extended universe that you can't just stop at watching the movies and TV shows. No, after a while, the bug of curiosity bites you, and you want to start buying and collecting the graphic novels, action figures, the video games, the LEGO versions of absolutely everything, and the list could go on. If you think we spend enough money on all of that as it is, and you're right, you'd be surprised to hear from people who do cosplay. Yeah, other than having all the collectible items you could think of, cosplayers also pour their heart and soul into their costumes. Which also implies emptying their wallets, of course. That's where all the justifications for all the money spent start: "I deserve it," "I'm treating myself," "This is why I work," and so on…

I, unfortunately, don't have anywhere near as many items as I would like. A few action figures of Luke, Yoda, and Darth Vader, a little LEGO X-wing, one of the original graphic novels, and not much more. Do I wish I had a bigger collection? Absolutely. Can I afford it? Definitely not. I swear, every time LGO puts out a new and improved version of the Millennium Falcon, I want to cry. And you know what else I wish I had? A life-size Stormtrooper suit.

If you've seen at least a few episodes of the show How I Met Your Mother, you probably saw that Barney's character has one of those in his apartment. He's quite a terrible person, but if there's one thing I have always envied him for, it's that stormtrooper. You don't see those everywhere! Granted, my house is relatively small, so it's not like I have much space to put it, but I don't care; I would find a space. Heck, I'd build an entire new room if I had to.

Don't worry, I'm not that insane; I know it would be ridiculous, and I have to get used to the fact that most likely, I will never have one of those. But you know what I do have? A bunch of Star Wars memes!

See what I'm talking about? Star Wars merchandise comes in all shapes and sizes! This one and the droid ceiling fan are my new obsession. These memes have unlocked a new neccesity on me to have a rug with the camouflaged drawing of Darth Vader's helmet. The great part about that is that most people don't even realize that's what it is, and it can pass by inadvertently. And the best part is that you don't look like an obsessed person! You can live your dreams of decorating your house in all the Star Wars fashion that you wish, while still being socially accepted by non-fans. Not that we're seeking their approval, but sadly, we all have at least one friend who hasn't seen Star Wars and would never understand it. Those details may even work as subliminal messages, and slowly, we will convince them to sit with us and watch the entire saga in one sitting! Well, not really; that will be too much for them, but at least they'll get the idea in their heads, and that's enough for now.
